Sheriff Department Jail Registered Nurse

Location: Liberal, KS

Job Summary:
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse to join our Sheriff Department Jail medical team. The Registered Nurse will be responsible for providing nursing care to inmates within the correctional facility, assessing their health needs, administering medications, and coordinating with other healthcare professionals to ensure the wellbeing of the inmates. This is a salaried position, and the salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Qualifications:
- Valid State of Kansas Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Prior experience working in a correctional facility or similar setting is preferred
- Knowledge of and experience with jail healthcare protocols and procedures
- Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in high-pressure situations
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Compassionate and non-judgmental approach to patient care

Responsibilities:
- Conduct health screenings and assessments of inmates upon admission
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers
- Monitor and record inmates' vital signs and medical information
- Collaborate with the medical team to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide immediate care as needed
- Provide health education and counseling to inmates on various health topics
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records for all inmates
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adherence to healthcare standards and protocols
